Gayab part deux

For those who have watched "Gayab", and cribbed about how good a story was mishandled, misdirected by the people of "Factory". Do check this poignant love story, which could be a possible crux for its sequal. This story is written by one of my colleagues, Sudarshan, check out his blog.

Standing for National Anthem

Vidhu Vinod Chopra asked his viewers, to stand up for the National Anthem. Most of the compere's ask their audience to do the same. Why? Won't the people natuarally stand up when the Anthem is rendered ? Around 15th Aug 2002, Hindu carried an article about how the Laloo couple was sitting during the I-Day parade while the Anthem was rendered. And since then, everyyear the news item does its rounds. And each year, a whole debate goes on, how is it possible for an MP to do such an act of national disrespect.

This question is asked as if each individual in this country, does stand up naturally. How many of us, stand up when we hear the Anthem rendered in TV/Radio ? I dont think, a lot of us do this act. It has to come naturally. Its not that if we dont stand, it means that we dont respect it. Its just that we are lazy to do it. We feel really lazy to do a lot of stuff. We are lazy to go to the flag hoisting ceremony conducted early in the morning at our school/company/where-ever on a holiday. Even if we go to the ceremony, we are so lazy that we cant stop yawning.

Going away from the topic, its crazy to hear people cribbing about how India can get only 1 or 2 medals in the olympics. But when it comes to sending their own kids to take part in sports activities, or allowing them to become professional sports person, they will think n number of times and say NO. Yes, for sure the decision will be a right one for their kid, and for sure, the kid would go on to finish his studies and go on to become one more kid helping out the american clients. But the kid wont in any way increase our olympic medals tally.

There was an editorial in IE stating that how, upper caste people think that any professional that involves physical activity is considered lower to their standards. Does the thinking still exists ?

I-Day

My bike mirrors wanted to be independent of my bike. And so it got independent on Aug 15th, 2004. It must surely have got some help from some unknown elements in my flat complex. Thankfully im moving out of the complex, before something else wants to be independent from me or any other objects I own.

Software Horoscope

How most of these are very true about my software/general capabilities. Which one of these is applicable to me, is your guess.

Gemini - May 21 - June 21

These also flirt here. They talk more than what they know and form very bad programmers. They are fascinated with gathering as much information aspossible, and their facility as communicators - both written and verbal- arises from this need. They see the problem earlier than any other Sign can. They are adaptable and able to tackle multiple tasks simultaneously, and they know how to reason with people, but they may lack follow-through or seem ungrateful. They tend to use management jargon with young people around them. They get their job done by hook or by crook. They don't mind getting the work done through somebody and once they get it done they claim the title. They show deep respect for people who help them. They change jobs easily and they fare very well in interviews. Geminis cannot be trusted for more than a year. They are very impractical and cannot get along well with practical signs like Aries, Taurus.

Flowers blossom

what's all the big deal about a kiss? Im talking about the way the kiss has been handled by our own directors. Earlier you would get to see flowers blossoming, birds chirping, clouds opening up, etc, etc while showing a kiss. Any natural acts that a director could think off, you will see it in the screen.

Even though there has been a marked transformation in the way directors portray these scenes, they still have a long way to go. You either see the girl or the boy molesting the other one in the name of kiss during the scene. Even a top notch director like Mani, botched up the kiss in his Yuva/AE. In Khakhi, the much acclaimed surprise of the movie, the bimbo Aish, is seen kissing Ajay not once but twice. But both of the times, you sit up to think what the heck where they doing.

Only one man (okay may be some more) in the whole Indian movie industry knows how to show the act. The leading ladies help him a lot in this aspect. In most of his movies, you are assured of such a scene. Its not that you go to see his movies just for this scene, you get to see a lot more that just this scene. But you will be surprised, if you see any chance that he might have missed.

Recently you get to see a lot of movies, sold just on the basis of one or two kisses. Julie is one such movie. This movie doesn't just tackle only kisses, it also tackles some more. After one such scene, you will be wondering about the zipper opening sound in the background.

Hoping for a better future for the kisses in Indian movies.
