Flowers blossom

what's all the big deal about a kiss? Im talking about the way the kiss has been handled by our own directors. Earlier you would get to see flowers blossoming, birds chirping, clouds opening up, etc, etc while showing a kiss. Any natural acts that a director could think off, you will see it in the screen.

Even though there has been a marked transformation in the way directors portray these scenes, they still have a long way to go. You either see the girl or the boy molesting the other one in the name of kiss during the scene. Even a top notch director like Mani, botched up the kiss in his Yuva/AE. In Khakhi, the much acclaimed surprise of the movie, the bimbo Aish, is seen kissing Ajay not once but twice. But both of the times, you sit up to think what the heck where they doing.

Only one man (okay may be some more) in the whole Indian movie industry knows how to show the act. The leading ladies help him a lot in this aspect. In most of his movies, you are assured of such a scene. Its not that you go to see his movies just for this scene, you get to see a lot more that just this scene. But you will be surprised, if you see any chance that he might have missed.

Recently you get to see a lot of movies, sold just on the basis of one or two kisses. Julie is one such movie. This movie doesn't just tackle only kisses, it also tackles some more. After one such scene, you will be wondering about the zipper opening sound in the background.

Hoping for a better future for the kisses in Indian movies.

New age actress have realized how to make hay while sun shines. They pretty much know the fine act of exposing, kissing etc, i.e. what will create more hype and profits. Directors are more than happy to use these girls to do whatever he wants to do. Finally the lead actors are having a ball. Who would say no when gorgeous beauty kisses you (Retake after retake). The bottomline here is money, nothing but $$$$.

Why jessica simpson graduated from christian carol singer to scantily clad pop star. Why christina aguilera refusers to wear anything other than panties. Why J Lo takes her top off in songs. Why britney spears wears stings as her clothing. Why janet jackson shows her asset in national television.

Its all clear to them "SEX SELLS".

Now there is a female topless exposure coming up in a film (tamil or hindi, i dunno). Pretty soon, bollywood will resemble hollywood in all aspects of sex.

After all, they are just catering to needs of the people :)

Okay, actually here's a comment: The reason why even if many try it ends up a mess is becos the act is not all too common among Indians until recently. Or atleast it isn't normally done in public. So if I've never really seen two Indians go at it in real life, I guess it does feel a little odd to see two ppl that too in a village setting trying to make out. Added to it, the fact that MOST Indians and that includes actors are actually very self conscious in real life unlike Europeans or Americans it's as casual as toast. To get the job done right, one must look the part and play it too. If not it looks grossly unconvincing.

A good example in how somethings just dont fit into the indian scheme of things are the stupid sex jokes that Rahul Bose cracks in that movie Jhankaar Beats. Somethings just don't gel.

Katsss

true, surely "SEX SELLS", but my main point was about the way a kiss is shown in an Indian movie

Indica,

true, my thing is if you cant show it properly, then dont show it. Its not as if the heroes are involved in street fights, but dont they in the movies ?

c'mon nandu,

Do u think that fights as portrayed in movies is the real street fight. Its over exaggeration....

Our movies are just following "show something rather nothing" philosophy. How may sez starved souls will drool over this? Thats a large number in india. If you think that every shot has to be perfect in the movies, then only a couple out of a million would qualify.

a nice kiss (even a sloppy one) can't be as bad as a babuji zara dheere chalo..... but there is rarely any outcry over 'vulgarity' in songs.... whereas any kind of kiss is sure to be controversial (remember Malika Sherawat anyone?) and THAT sells... the publicity, I mean... not just sex or what goes by that name in Indian movies!

Wait wait. India is slowly coming of age. We might have better things in sometime. Bollywood truly strives in that direction!
