Matthi ka Ganapathy

My Aunt in IIT Powai spearheads a movement that encourages people to make their own Matthi ka Ganapathy. This movement was basically started to encourage people not to contaminate the environment especially water bodies with "Painted" Ganapathies during visarjan. The movement organizes a workshop just before Vinayaka Chaturthi, which gives basic training to participants as to how to make Ganapathy and also they give the participants Matthi from the powai lake. The participants can also order Ganapathy, if in case they think they cannot make their own Ganapathy. The idea is to encourage people to make their own Ganapathy small or big, beautiful or not, and to get immense satisfaction creating the Ganapathy.
