Questions asked

An interesting para from the book Built to Last, that i would like to mention here.

During the founding of the United States, the critical question at the Constitutional Convention in 1787 was not "Who should be the President? Who should lead us? Who is the wisest among us? Who would would be the best king?" No the founders of the country concentrated on such questions as "What processes can we create that will give us good presidents long after we're dead and gone? What type of enduring country do we want to build? On what principles? How should it operate? What guidelines and mechanisms should we construct that will give us the kind of country we envision?"

Thomas Hefferson, James Madison and John Adams are not charismatic visionay leaders in the "it all depends on me" mode. They created a constitution to which they and all future leaders would be subservient. They focussed on building a country. They rejected the good-kind model. They took an architectural approach. They were clock builders.

Did the founders of Indian constitution think in these lines? At a time like this, after the L.K.Advani mishap, when we get various stories regarding what went on during the last ten years before Indian independence, how can anybody be sure of what went on during that time. We have various reliable sources regarding the Constitutional convention of United states, but do we have reliable information regarding what went on during the fouding of Indian Constitution?

If our fore-fathers thought in the same lines as the Americans did, who would have been our first Prime Minister, who would have done more good to our country more than what Pandit did, would our parliament be churning out corrupt ministers one after another, would our infrastructure be this bad? Lot of questions i have, but who do i seek to get answers, yoda asks?.
