Indian War Movies

Has there ever been an Indian movie about Indians who fought the World wars? Was reading through this article, which made me think about this. There has been umpteen Hollywood/European movies about World wars, why not an Indian movie? Even in these foreign movies, have they ever shown an heroic Indian fighting gallantly in any of the world wars?

A note from the article :-

Indians were among the most heroic, borne out by the fact that they won over 4,000 gallantry awards, among them almost 20 Victoria Crosses.

Perhaps not much archives / records exist today.

There was a very good Indian war movie titled " Haqeeqat" in 1960's ( directed by Chetan Anand -- Dev Anand's elder bro). It was based on the Indo-China war of 1962. Had some amazing music too !

Arun,

May be thats one reason. Even during School history, you dont read much about Indians who were involved in World war. May be we are not proud about it, since we were under the direct orders of the Britishers?

Robbie,

Tats surely funny :)

The English Patient, set during WWII, has a Sikh soldier in the British army -- a mine defuser, I think -- although he doesn't actually do much, as I recall.
