Dedication

I dedicate this blog to my one-day old niece. My sister gave birth to a healthy girl yesterday afternoon. Both the mother and baby are both doing fine. Probable girl names are invited from you people. I am in awe of all the pain that a women goes through during her pregnancy period to give birth. My sister had severe leg pains due to vericose vein problems, she barely slept 3-4 hours a day. Im sure for the next some months, her new born would give her some more sleepless nights. Hats off to motherhood, and hats off to all the moms out there.

Congrats on becoming an Uncle once again !!
Guess that's one of the perks of having siblings.

Personally for names, I prefer Ethnic or earthy names.
I'd suggest:

Kaveri
Meera
Sanjana
Raaga
Kaushalya
Sahana (Yes, the raga).

I know some of these names are a bit archaic, but futuristically speaking girls 20 years from now are probably going to be very modern....so I like the idea of shock value. I also like names that are enigmatic and make people think.

Imagine a sweet, smart independent 20-something yr old girl with an endearing earthy name ! Ooh la la !

Do let us know what you named her :)

Amritha and Veda are both really beautiful names.
Personally I think, to follow up on harsh's and your thoughts, women ought to be given a medal or something for managing motherhood, career, and managing a family.

Figuratively speaking of course Hari :)

They used to say that a woman has to work twice as hard to prove herself to be just as good as a man. I didn't realize the full meaning until I began living by myself and working. It's not about being Indian or our society yada yada yada. It's just that biologically, socially, emotionally women don't have it easy - anywhere in the world. I don't need to really add more. Much has already been written and said on this, here already.
